Junior High Grades 6-8
Junior High is a time of increased responsibility and self-awareness. Our Jr. High teachers provide a rich program designed to motivate, challenge, and prepare students for the next chapter of their lives beyond the walls of St. Lucy.
In preparation for high school, students learn and practice organizational skills, leadership skills, time management, writing, research, and critical thinking skills.

Junior High Electives and Leadership
Electives
Students choose one elective each trimester and are grouped together based on interest. Led by Jr. High faculty, these courses are great opportunities for students to discover new areas of passion. Some electives have included: Engineering and Mechanics, Financial Literacy, Baking, and Entrepreneurship.
Family Group Leadership
Eighth Graders lead their own Family Group, consisting of one student per grade in K-7. This provides valuable leadership experience, while also allowing the students to demonstrate being a good role model for the younger students.
High School Application Process
The Jr. High faculty and school administration work closely with students to guide them through the high school admissions process. They not only prepare them for the High School Placement Test (HSPT), but also take time to work with each student on the essay writing portion of the application. The HSPT is used to help determine a student’s readiness and course placement. St. Lucy students in advanced classes may test out of entry-level high school courses.
St. Lucy Students are Accepted Into
Resource Program
Early intervention is key. Whether parents are aware their child needs additional academic support or needs are identified by their teacher, our Resource Program provides the support they need to succeed. Our Resource teacher dedicates one-on-one time, as well as small group discussions, with students.
Student Counseling Services
Our students benefit from the availability of counseling services on campus. The counselor provides individual counseling, small group counseling, guidance lessons, and additional services. Services are centered around problem-solving processes and can help safeguard the well-being of a student. The school counselor works closely with parents, students, and faculty.
