Thank you for your interest in St Lucy School We know that choosing the right school for your family is a big decision! . Please submit an online application for each child you wish to enroll. Mail or deliver the associated paperwork to the school office. Office hours are Monday-­Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Each application must include the following, as applicable to grade level:

  • Completed online application
  • Non-refundable application fee $50, made payable to “St. Lucy School” or paid online.
  • Most recent report card / Pre-K progress report, if applicable.
  • Recent standardized test scores, if applying for grades 3-8.
  • Copy of baptismal record, if applicable.
  • Copy of birth certificate.
  • A recent photo of your child. An informal snapshot is fine.
  • A copy of formal educational assessment and IEPs, if applicable.

Student Assessment:

To ensure your child’s success, it is very important that your child is academically and socially ready for admission to St. Lucy School. A student assessment is required as part of the application process. Pre-­K and Kindergarten applicants will be assessed using the Gesell Institute developmental screening. Students will receive a 45 minute assessment appointment time. Transfer applicants applying for Grades 1­-8 are required to attend an all­ day shadow visit during the school year in the student’s current grade level classroom, which will also include an academic assessment appointment with our Vice-­Principal. During the summer, students will meet with our Vice-Principal/Principal for an individual assessment.

Acceptance Priority:

The school principal and pastor, following this stated policy, shall make decisions on admission. Where there are more qualified applicants than spaces for any particular grade, students will be accepted or placed on a waiting list according to the following priorities:

  1. Age Requirement: Children entering Pre­-K must be four years old by 09/01/18. Children entering Kindergarten must be five years old by 09/01/18.
  2. Applicants applying before the priority deadline of February 2, 2018.
  3. Sibling of students currently enrolled in St. Lucy School
  4. Baptized Catholic children of active St. Lucy parishioners
  5. Baptized Catholic children of St. Lucy alumni
  6. Baptized Catholic children whose families are registered and participating members of Catholic parishes without schools
  7. Baptized Catholic children of families who are registered and participating at another Catholic parish
  8. Baptized Catholic children of families not active in any Catholic parish
  9. Non-Catholic children

In order to be considered an active St. Lucy parishioner, you must:

  • Register at St. Lucy Parish: Complete the registration form available in the parish office.
  • Participate at St. Lucy Parish: Regularly celebrate Sunday liturgy with St. Lucy parish.
  • Contribute to St. Lucy Parish: Provide regular financial support of $500 or more annually to St. Lucy Parish through monthly Parish Pay contributions or weekly giving via envelopes.

Notification letters for priority admission status indicating immediate acceptance, not ready, or waiting list for Kindergarten and Pre­-K will be mailed in mid­-February. Transfer students will be notified in February. Applicants who apply after the priority deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

You will observe students and teachers in action, meet our principal, and learn about what life is like at St. Lucy School.  We will not only visit classrooms in session, but also visit the Library, T.D. Mac Technology Lab, Science Lab, Art Studio Classroom, Jr. High wing, Extended Day Care, Gymnasium, Morning Assembly Area, and outside spaces. This is the perfect time to ask detailed questions about the application process and the St. Lucy School program.

January Open House: Sunday, January 28, 2018

Sunday, January 28, 2018 is the St. Lucy School Open House for both current and prospective families, immediately following the 9:00 a.m. Family Mass. Open House is held from 10:30 a.m. – Noon.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet teachers, administrators, and families that are currently enrolled at St. Lucy School and learn more about the St. Lucy School program.  Please bring your children to this family friendly event.

Tuition Contract

St. Lucy School is a non­profit organization. Keeping tuition low while sustaining an outstanding program and employing the best teachers and staff is a high priority. Upon acceptance, families enter into a contract with the school by signing their tuition contracts. The Tuition contract outlines the family tuition rate, volunteer service hour responsibility, and scrip program participation. The annual tuition may be prepaid in full before July 1, or paid over 11 months from July through June, excluding February. February is the month where fall non­-refundable registration fees are due in order to confirm registration for the following school year. A 2% discount on the tuition total is given if fees and tuition are paid in full by July 1. Monthly payments must be made through the FACTS tuition management company.

Because St. Lucy School makes every effort to minimize tuition by minimizing expenses, families must remain current on their tuition and fees. Failure to do so places the financial health of the school at risk. Anyone unable to meet the monthly payments must contact the principal. The pastor and the principal reserve the right to ask families who cannot maintain their financial responsibility to leave the school.

Tuition Categories: In-Parish, Out-of-Parish, Non­-Catholic (K­-8 only)

The tuition category status is determined each February for the following year by the Pastor and Principal after a review of family attendance at St. Lucy Parish masses coupled with regular sacrificial giving of $500 or more annually, as tracked through the family’s use of their individual numbered envelopes or through the ParishPay program.

There are three tuition categories for St. Lucy School families. The “In-Parish” status is for baptized Catholic students of families who are registered in St. Lucy Parish, contribute $500 or more annually to the financial support of the parish outside of the parish school ministry, and take a regular, active part in the life of the parish by regularly attending Mass. The “Out-of-Parish” category is for baptized Catholic children of St. Lucy School families who are registered and active in another Catholic parish but not registered or active at St. Lucy Parish. The “Non­-Catholic” status is for students who are not baptized and/or baptized Catholic students of St. Lucy Families who are not registered or active in any Catholic parish.

Volunteer Service Hours

Each family in grade K­-8 is required to volunteer 40 hours per year for a two parent household or 20 hours per year for each single parent household. Pre­-K families have a service requirement of 10 hours of volunteer service. Service opportunities are regularly posted on our internal communication website, SchoolSpeak, to help make it easy to get involved.

Children love seeing and knowing that their parents are doing something special at school. We thank our parents for being committed to making St Lucy School such a connected and warm community! Because of the strength of our parent volunteer effort, we are able to sustain a level of excellence at St. Lucy School. Our parents regularly comment that they feel welcome on campus, and that their help is clearly valued by faculty and staff.

St. Lucy School Scrip Program

Participation in the Scrip fundraising program is required as part of your tuition contract. Families are welcome to choose a buyout option of $250 per year if they would prefer not to participate. Scrip is a national fundraising program that helps merchants drive in business as well as give to worthy causes, such as education. We depend on $40,000 profit from the scrip program to help pay for school operating expenses and to keep our tuition at one of the lowest in the diocese.

Annual Registration/Enrollment Fee

All families register (or enroll for the first time) for the coming year with a non­refundable registration/enrollment payment of $550 per student.

Tuition Assistance:

St. Lucy School families may apply for a tuition assistance scholarship each year. The pastor and principal coordinate this program, in conjunction with the Private School Aid Service­ (PSAS). All communication remains confidential. In order to qualify for tuition assistance, the Private School Aid (PSAS) form must be submitted. Applications are available through the school office beginning in December. A completed tax return and all supporting documentation is required for the application to be considered. All aid is distributed based on the associated need ­based rankings.

After the information is processed, a family may qualify for aid from the Diocese of San Jose and St. Lucy School.

*NOTE: Families who are new to the school for the 2017-18 school year may also apply for the BASIC Fund, which is a privately funded multi­-year scholarship administered in San Francisco. To obtain a Basic Fund application, go to starting in December.

2017-2018 Tuition Rates:

The 2017-2018 tuition rates per student are provided below. Tuition typically increases a few percentage points each year in response to Diocesan salary and insurance scales, and strategic program and facility development on campus.

Pre-K Class Schedule

All students participate in the morning Pre-K program five days per week.There is a flexible drop-off time from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.   The core curriculum is from 9:00 a.m. –noon.  Students in the Half Day Program are dismissed at Noon.

You may schedule your child to continue with the Afternoon Program, three or five days per week.  There is a choice of a consistent Afternoon Program dismissal time of either 3:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m.

Students in the Afternoon Program will gather for lunch, have nap time, and creatively explore arts and crafts.  Students will also participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities.

Grades K­-8 Extended Day Care Fees 2017-2018 (Optional)

The before and after school Extended Day Care program (EDC) is designed to support the family by providing quality care that promotes the student’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development in a planned environment. Qualified, experienced and loving personnel staff the program. EDC is open to K-­8 students Monday through Friday throughout the school year, between 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and after school until 6:00 p.m. This includes minimum days and teacher in ­service days. Students have access to the Library and the TD Mac Lab in order to conduct research or do homework. They also have access to a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, Athletics, Homework Club, and Jr. High Study Hall.

Extended Day Care payments are billed monthly according to hourly usage beginning in October.

Less than 40 hours per month: $6.25 per hour per student

Greater than 40 hours per week: $5.75 per hour per student

  1. You must complete one application for each child by clicking the link below. 
  2. When your application form is complete, please click the SUBMIT button.

STEP 2: Submit your $50 application fee

  1. After submitting your online application, you will receive an email with the link to the electronic payment portal.  
  2. You may also opt to mail or deliver a check to the school office, made out to “St. Lucy School”.

STEP 3: Submit the following paperwork/information to the school office

  1. A recent photo of your child
  2. A copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport      
  3. Most recent report card (Grade 1-8 applicants), or preschool progress report, if available (Kindergarten applicants)
  4. Recent standardized test scores (grade 1-8 applicants)
  5. A copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate, if applicable
  6. A copy of your child’s formal educational assessment and IEP’s, if applicable

  • Transfer applicants applying for Grades 1­-8 are required to attend an all­ day shadow visit assessment during the week in the student’s current grade level, which will also include an academic assessment.

Applications submitted by February 2, 2018 will have admission priority for fall 2018 enrollment. Applications received after that date are reviewed on a rolling basis. We continue to accept applications throughout the year, space permitting.
